      Volunteer football coach - South West

      Do you love football and like to keep fit? We're looking for a volunteer football coach to help support users of our Care and Support Services who are deaf and have additional complex needs and abilities.


      Bath, BA2 


      • To provide regular support to people with hearing loss and additional needs by offering training and advice around football skills and fitness
      • Support people who use our service to exercise in a fun environment
      • Develop individuals skills in football and team sport
      • Promote a safe and effective exercise programme
      • Promote the work of Action on Hearing Loss

      Skills needed

      • An enjoyment of football
      • A sensitive attitude towards other people
      • Open-minded and non-judgemental
      • A friendly approach and a positive attitude
      • Empathic and an active listener
      • Aware of issues affecting people with a hearing loss
      • Committed to the well-being of others especially people with a hearing loss 
      • Reliable, trustworthy and honest
      • Ability to travel independently around local area
      • Ideally have BSL Level 2
      • Prepared to commit to regular visits
      • Enthusiastic and able to motivate others
      • Knowledge of safe ways to exercise / warm up / warm down
      • The ability to adapt exercise / training methods to be inclusive to different physical capabilities/ fitness levels
      • Ability to plan and time manage a regular exercise session

      Support and supervision

      Regular support will be given by your Volunteer Co-ordinator, especially in the early stages of your role as you settle in. You will also receive informal support from other volunteers and staff as you work together.


      We offer full, on-going training for all volunteers including a one-day induction programme and further training specific to the volunteering role.


      • Training – learning new skills, and gaining up-to-date knowledge of issues affecting people who are deaf of have a hearing loss
      • Experience – meeting new people in different situations, building new friendships with other volunteers
      • Fulfilment – knowing that the information you provide will make a real difference to those who receive it, and raising deaf awareness throughout society as a whole
      • Expenses – out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of your volunteering will be reimbursed, according to our Expenses policy
