Information and Advocacy
Help us to inform people with a hearing loss of the types of equipment and devices available and to offer basic advocacy services, to help them get access to these.
This role involves trained volunteers demonstrating a small range of equipment and showing people how to use devices they already have.
This role is similar to the Equipment Advisor, but volunteers will have more expertise in a wider range of equipment and how this links with hearing aids.
Volunteers can choose to be placed in community hubs, or to carry out home visits, or both! Full training is given and expenses reimbursed.
• Training – learning new skills, and gaining up-to-date knowledge of issues affecting deaf and hard of hearing people
• Experience – meeting new people in different situations, building new friendships with other volunteers
• Fulfilment – knowing that the information you provide will make a real difference to those who receive it and raising deaf awareness throughout society as a whole
• Opportunity to try other volunteering roles within Action on Hearing Loss
All expenses incurred as a result of your volunteering will be reimbursed, according to the Action on Hearing Loss expenses policy.
You will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS), as some of your work may include working with vulnerable adults: Action on Hearing Loss Cymru will pay for this
