Maintaining our care homes and gardens
We need groups of volunteers to help with gardening, painting and decorating at our care homes, where we provide long-term residential care for adults who are deaf and have additional needs, such as blindness and autism.
The gardens, with their different textures and smells, are incredibly important for providing a sensory experience to our residents and volunteering is a great opportunity to see what we do first hand, and to gain a better understanding of what living with sensory loss is like.
Hear to Meet
Hear to Meet is our support group that meets regularly at local venues for tea, cake and an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and share information and tips on coping with hearing loss. Volunteering to help with the group will give your staff the chance to meet group members and find out more about the issues they face through hearing loss.
Hearing loop squads
We need volunteers to carry out induction loop checks in high street banks and post offices to make sure that people with hearing aids have equal access to everyday services. This is a great opportunity for your staff to understand the challenges that people with hearing loss face every day and would encourage the problem solving and communication skills of those taking part.
