We are excited to have launched seven new drop-in support sessions in the Scottish Borders to support people with hearing loss.
At the sessions, people can access free hearing aid batteries and tubing, and volunteers will be on hand to provide basic hearing aid maintenance, hearing checks, information and support on living with hearing loss.
The drop-in sessions are run by trained RNID volunteers, many of whom have hearing loss themselves, and are funded by the Scottish Government and Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Partnership.

“We are really excited to launch this new face to face service in the Scottish Borders to support local people with hearing loss. One million people in Scotland have hearing loss and this service aims to offer support to everyone, whatever stage they are at on their journey.”
New support sessions
The new monthly sessions take place at the following locations:
- Kelso Health Centre, Inch Road: second Monday of the month (10am-12pm)
- Langlee Community Centre, Galashiels: second Tuesday of the month (10am-12pm)
- Jedburgh Medical Practice, Queen Street: third Wednesday of the month (10am-12pm)
- Lauder Community Leisure Centre, East High Street: third Thursday of the month (10am-12pm)
- Peebles Library, High Street: second Thursday of the month (2pm – 4pm)
- Hawick Community Hospital, Victoria Road: third Monday of the month starting Monday 17 July (10am – 12pm)
- Eyemouth Library: third Friday of the month (10am-12pm) starting Friday 21 July.
