Product Description

The Conversor Pro Hearing Amplifier allows you to enjoy more of your television programmes at the touch of a button! The directional hearing microphone can amplifies sound and sends it wirelessly to the neckloop which relays it easily and effortlessly to your hearing aid.

This TV listener has many other functions besides - it can be used to amplify speech during talks, meetings, presentations, social gatherings - you name it!

Loss of hearing has many downsides - even the most everyday activities, like watching the television are made difficult. The volume you set your TV set at may be way too loud for other members of your household.

This is when the Conversor Pro Hearing Amplifier comes in to play. This versatile piece of kit allows you to enjoy your favourite shows with the rest of your friends and family at a volume setting that suits everyone. The microphone is placed by the television, sends the signal to your neckloop which then wirelessly connects to your hearing aids so you can enjoy clear and intelligible audio.

On top of this, any background noise is reduced enhancing the sound you hear.

The Conversor Pro Hearing Amplifier is more than just a TV amplifier for the hard of hearing and can be used in a number of settings - and can adapt the type of listening that the situation requires:

Zoom - select the Zoom setting to use it as more of a directional hearing microphone. This allows you to focus in on sound from a certain area. This is ideal for lectures and presentations, for example.

Omni-Directional - need to pick up on voices all around you? Select the Omni-Directional function to enjoy being part of conversations around a table or in a bar, for example.

You can hold the transmitter and point it directly at the desired sound source; or you can place it on a suitable surface in close proximity to the sound source up to 25 metres away. The transmitter can also be worn by a speaker in a lecture or classroom situation.

The Conversor Pro Hearing Amplifier only works alongside a hearing aid with a T-setting.

The Conversor Pro Hearing Amplifier has many features and functions including:

  • Volume control on neckloop receiver
  • Microphone boost button
  • Socket on receiver to allow use by non-hearing aid wearers using headphones
  • Rechargeable battery with up to eight hours' use from three hours' charge
  • TV connection kit supplied (jack to jack lead, phono adapter lead and scart plug)
  • Operating range up to 25m
  • 2 year warranty

In what way has the new Conversor Pro been improved over the old model?

The main improvements made to the new model are better sound clarity, better microphone directionality and faster charging. There has also been a casing change but this will not affect the operation of the unit.

Is this compatible with any T position on a hearing aid.Can it transmit through a screen eg glass. Speaker on one side and hearing aid user on other

The Conversor Pro will work with any hearing aid that has the T setting option. As for the unit being able to transmit through glass it should be able to but the operating range will be reduced.

hi there, would this equipment be compatible with cochlear implants?I currently support students in further education, this year I purchased equipment from Phonak, so was wondering was this an alternative?all help is appreciated on this.thank you clayton

Yes the Conversor Pro will be compatible with your Implants as it comes supplied with a jack plug that plugs into the aux socket of the implant to pick up the signal.

The older model of Conversor was incompatable with Pacemakers, is this also the case for the new model?

Any product which creates a magnetic field has the potential to interfere with pacemakers you should really check with your consultant before using any of our neckloop products.

 Good but with caveats

Posted by John, Newton Abbot on 30 March 2015

This device has stood the test of time. Many people have found it good, even very good. I myself, as one moderately severely hard of hearing, found it was inadequate - the volume was not loud enough - that was my main difficulty. See a fuller review on the independent website

 Disappointing for the price

Posted by Helena on 08 December 2014

In theory this ticked all my boxes. In practice it only ticked 1. Rechargeable and 2. No Cable. Talking one-2-one it failed on directional & boost, separately and combined. Talking 'room to room' just didn't work. Maximum volume pathetic, and trying to clarify using tone control distorted sound. Had my hearing aids up to maximum which was ridiculous. Ended up leaning over a coffee table to talk-lipread just as before! Tried in quiet room with TV, could not get enough volume. Sorry, rechargeable and no tethering wire were only good features for me.

The original Conversor was excellent, and used successfully for several years. This newer version is not nearly as good. OK in one to one situations, but not when used in meetings or lectures. Lacks volume, and receiver loses charge if not used for a week or so. Will look for alternative as this does not do the job.

We use the Conversor at a forum for deaf blind people. Positive feedback was given by all users. Easy to use , easy to explain and much less stressful than a room loop as the volume can be controlled on an individual basis.

I am a 50yr old male and i have been wearing hearing aids for nearly 10yrs. the Coversor Pro is very good value for money. I have tried other cheaper brands and was not really satisfied with the quality of the product although the sound was ok. The Coversor pro is very robust and there is no way the buttons get accidently switch off or altered in any way. Hearing the TV again with such clarity has been magic. There are 2 ways you can do this. 1, is to connect the microphone to the output on your sky box or TV using the scart plug supplied or 2,Position your microphone in front of the TV speakers and the the receiver your around your neck picks up the sound. No wires for anyone to trip or fall over, its great. The microphone works well in restaurants too, just place it in the middle of the table, switch the mic and receiver on, switch your hearing aids to T and thats it, the background noise almost gone. Brilliant.

I used to use its predecessor the "Conversor", but when I upgraded my hearing-aids decided to go for an Easylink and icom. I found these confusing and slow to use and have gone back to the Conversor in its upgraded version, the "Pro". It is half the price of the Easylink, and much easier to use, although unlike the Easylink it requires listening to with the hearing-aids in T position. Switching from the individual speaker setting to the room setting is done by pressing a button with immediate change-over. The charger charges both the microphone and receiver at the same time, with very clear lights to show what is happening. The booklet is very clearly written. I thoroughly recommend this product.

Very useful in a noisy environment. It helps cut out some of the background noise which hearing aids cannot do.

I did a thorough survey of alternatives. This was the only one which met my 'spec'. It is better than I expected at a price much lower than the competition.

It is a great help when listening to talks on the radio and ipod as I have found it difficult to distinguish words without this aid. It is also excellent at meetings as I can hear what everyone is saying by placing microphone on the chairman's table.

This is a replacement for my previous model. The new model is even more efficient than my previous model.

The volume was completely inadequate. Could hardly be heard on boost. Phonak handy mic is much better but even that needs improving.

It is proving to be a real asset in group settings. I have yet to try it out in a Quaker Meeting for worship or a restaurant or lecture hall.

Not good. Receiver battery loses its charge after about 1 hour. Will return for replacement.

Have only just started using it but first impressions are good. Have yet to use it in a meeting but I'm very confident it will be very useful.
