The Wi-Safe 2 smoke alarm from FireAngel provides quick detection of slow-smouldering fires, making it ideal for areas where electrical equipment and upholstery furniture may become a fire hazard. It can be used by hearing people as a stand-alone alarm and combined with the FireAngel strobe and vibrating pad to create a deaf-friendly system that’s suitable for people with all levels of hearing loss. The vibrating pad goes under a pillow or mattress for night-time alerts, and the bright flashing strobe light provides a visual warning during the day.
This Wi-Safe 2 smoke alarm provides quick detection of slow-smouldering fires, making it ideal for areas where electrical equipment and upholstery furniture may become a fire hazard. The thermoptek optical smoke sensor constantly monitors for temperature change and if a sudden rate of temperature rise is detected, the sensitivity of the alarm is increased.
In order to receive the earliest fire warning, it’s recommended that a smoke alarm is fitted in all rooms where the temperature is normally between 4°C and 38°C. This includes bedrooms, living areas, hallways and landings.
The smoke alarm can be used by hearing people thanks to the loud audible alert and combined with the strobe and vibrating pad to create a deaf-friendly system that’s suitable for people with all levels of hearing loss. The vibrating pad goes under a pillow or mattress for night-time alerts, and the bright flashing strobe light provides a visual warning during the day.
The smoke alarm works as a stand-alone alarm or as part of FireAngel interlink system, sending a signal to any other connected Wi-Safe 2 alarms if it detects danger. When one alarm sounds, they all go off and up to 50 devices can be interlinked within 35m (or 200m in clear air) to provide wide coverage and protection of your home. For example, you could use a heat alarm in the kitchen and smoke alarms in the living room, hallway, landing and bedrooms.
The smoke alarm includes a handy locate feature. When a network of alarms goes off, pressing the test button on any of the units will silence all but the initiating alarm. Perfect for finding the fault. In the event of a known false alarm, it can be temporarily silenced for up to 10 minutes. During these 10 minutes if additional smoke is detected the alarm will sound.
The strobe unit will detect and indicate a low battery warning on any smoke, heat or carbon monoxide alarm within the network. Plus, it provides a remote low level testing facility for checking interlinked smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms, avoiding the need to reach up to ceiling mounted alarms to test.
The smoke alarm has a non-removable integrated battery with a 10 year life span (in normal operating conditions). The strobe and vibrating pad are mains-powered with a rechargeable battery backup which must be replaced after five years.
