Action on Hearing Loss are funded by Middlesbrough Council to facilitate activities at Middlesbrough Deaf Centre for Deaf/Deaf members and people with hearing loss, including their facilities/carers. Action on Hearing Loss also deal with information enquiries either by email, text, phone or face to face at Middlesbrough Deaf Centre or out in the community at one of our regular drop in’s.

Not everyone realises the impact that losing your hearing can have on your social life. How simple pleasures, like going out for dinner or catching up with friends, become so much harder to enjoy when you can’t follow conversations because of background noise, or too many people talking at once. It can be exhausting.

At our social meet-ups, everyone understands, because they have hearing loss themselves or are close to someone who does. You get to meet and share experiences and tips with people in the same situation – and have some fun!

Whatever we do, one thing is certain: your hearing loss won’t stop you from joining in the conversation.

Join us at Middlesbrough Deaf Centre for:

Sign and Social Group: every Tuesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Open to anybody who is D/deaf, hard of hearing or uses BSL as a means of communication. Also open to hearing people who would like to become involved in the D/deaf community. Social workers from Redcar & Cleveland Council attend once a month to offer support. Action on Hearing Loss staff are available to support members with phone calls or help with letters.
