Who we areWestcliffe House is a specialist care home, without nursing, in Westgate-on-Sea, Kent. We provide 24-hour support to 13 men and women, over the age of 18, who are deaf, deafblind or have hearing loss. The people we support have a range of diverse, and sometimes complex, needs, including learning and physical disabilities, autistic-spectrum disorders, and behaviour that could be described as 'challenging'.
Our aim is to provide a comfortable and safe environment, promoting choice and independence whilst empowering the people we support to do things for themselves.
What we can offer - how we support youWe can give you a safe and comfortable place to live. Westcliffe House is a large, four-storey, detached house with a mixture of single bedrooms and flats.
The ground floor of the house has two flats – 'Sea View' and 'Garden View'. Sea View is a two-bedroomed flat for two people to share, and Garden View is a two-bedroomed flat for one person who may need a bit of additional support from staff who sleep in the other bedroom.
The first floor and second floors of the of the house are known as 'Beach View' and 'Ocean View' and are split into male and female accommodation. Each floor has four bedrooms, all with an en-suite bathrooms, and there is a separate office/bedroom and bathroom for the staff who support you to use. Each floor also has a lounge and kitchen for you to share with the other people who live on your floor.
Finally, the third floor has three self-contained flats – two of these are for people to live more independently and the other flat is used by staff so they can be on-hand if needed.
We also have a large garden at the rear of the house, which everyone can use for parties and barbeques during the warmer months.
We will support you in all aspects of daily life – from making healthy lifestyle choices and managing your medicines, to cooking, budgeting, learning new skills and getting involved in the local community. We use a range of communication techniques and will always take a person-centred approach to encourage positive risk-taking in every aspect of our care planning and review process. By doing this, we ensure that you are fully involved in the support you get.
