Who we areWe are a specialist care home, without nursing, in Westgate-on-Sea. We provide 24-hour care and support to eight deaf or hard of hearing men and women aged 18 and over. The people we support have a wide range of needs including autism, epilepsy, learning difficulties, visual impairments and mental ill-health.
Our main aim is to provide a comfortable and safe environment where we promote choice and independent living. We support people to make informed choices about their lives and gain important life and social skills.
What we can offer - how we support you
We will provide you with a safe and comfortable place to live. St. Gabriel’s is a large, two-storey detached house. On the first floor, we have two four-bedroomed flats – each bedroom has a private bathroom (some en-suite) and each flat has a kitchen, lounge/diner and a room for the staff who support you, to sleep in. Both flats are accessed by a shared communal entrance and staircase. You will also have access to a large garden that surrounds the house, which is often used for barbeques and parties during the warmer months!
On the ground floor of St Gabriel's House is a Day Centre. This is a great place to socialise and learn new skills and is also used by deaf people from the local community.
We will support you to create your own person-centred plan and empower you to do things for yourself in all aspects of daily life – from making healthy lifestyle choices and managing your medicines, to cooking, budgeting, learning new skills and getting involved in the local community.
