Who we areWe are a specialist care home, without nursing, in Newton Abbot, Devon. We can provide 24-hour support to seven deaf and/or deafblind men and women over the age of 18. The people we support have a range of diverse and sometimes complex needs, including learning and physical disabilities, mental ill-health, and dementia.
We specialise in supporting people towards living more independently – according to their abilities – by helping them to make the most of existing skills and developing new ones. In particular, we have been very successful in helping the people we support to develop their confidence, so they are able to get involved in their local community.
What we can offer - how we support you
We will give you a safe and comfortable place to live. Pippin House has seven bedrooms, all with their own en-suite facilities, and a separate, large bathroom. The lounge and dining areas, which are light and spacious, have TVs and DVD players, and our large kitchen is modern and well-equipped. We have a conservatory with comfortable seating, and a garden with raised flower planters and a separate decking area where you can sit and relax outside in warmer weather. We also have a greenhouse where you can get involved in growing fruit and vegetables if you wish.
We will always encourage you to voice your opinions, thoughts and ideas about the running of the home and to play an active part in planning menus, shopping, cooking and cleaning. We will also support you to create a ‘person-centred plan’. This describes what’s important to you, how you want your life to be – and what help you need to make this happen.
