      Consultation responses

Consultation responses can play an important part in influencing government policy and are a key way to ensure that hearing loss is on the agenda of Ministers and civil servants.

The government, and other publicly-funded organisations, ask for public opinion on proposed changes to laws or policies. We write responses to the consultations on issues which affect people with hearing loss and highlight issues that the government may not have considered and/or suggest solutions to ensure that the new policy or law benefits people with hearing loss.

Combined with our campaigning and lobbying, this can result in a more favourable version of a law or policy – for example, we responded to the review of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and, as a result, discussed what the scheme would provide.
