By learning British Sign Language (BSL), you can help make the world a more friendly and accessible place for people who use it as their first or preferred language.
Our Signature accredited BSL level 1 course will enable you to communicate with Deaf people using BSL on a range of topics using simple everyday language.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences in BSL
- take part in simple, predictable conversations in BSL
- give and follow simple directions or instructions in BSL
- give and follow simple statements or descriptions in BSL

How is this course delivered?
The Level 1 Award in BSL will run for six hours a day for 10 days. Once you have completed the course, you can progress on to the Level 2 Certificate in BSL.
Qualification structure
The Level 1 Award in BSL qualification is divided into three units – to achieve the full Level 1 qualification, candidates must pass all units:
