The charity was first awarded the UK quality standard in 2008 and has since renewed three times.
Denise Hayward, CEO at Volunteer Now, said: “I was delighted to present Action on Hearing Loss with their fourth Investing in Volunteers Award which recognises their commitment to good practice in volunteer management. What a tremendous achievement and congratulations to all.”
The award was presented at a celebration event at the Belfast office where volunteers were invited to enjoy afternoon tea. 5 staff and volunteers also received OCN certificates for completing qualifications in Understanding Hearing Loss and Hearing Aid Maintenance .
Jackie White, Director at Action on Hearing Loss Northern Ireland, said: “This award stands as a testament to the commitment, dedication and skill of our 150 volunteers, performing a variety of roles across Northern Ireland. We hope our volunteers feel justifiably proud of their achievements and know the very high regard with which they are held. We simply could not deliver the wide range of services we provide or reach the people who need our help and support without you and we thank you sincerely.”
Action on Hearing Loss offers a range of regular and one-off volunteering opportunities across Northern Ireland to suit an individual’s interests and availability. Current opportunities include Information Ambassador, Presenter, Hearing Aid Maintenance Volunteer and Collection Coordinator. The charity is also seeking volunteers for its Big Belfast Christmas Collection, taking place on Friday 7 December.
