Charity Action on Hearing Loss is holding five more free adult hearing screening services exclusively on the Isle of Wight.

Charity Action on Hearing Loss is holding five more free adult hearing screening services exclusively on the Isle of Wight.

The screening service, which will be running across the island for a year, gives local residents an opportunity to have their hearing checked by trained volunteers for signs of hearing loss.

Five services are being held before the end of the year in three surgeries across the Isle of Wight’s three localities. Drop in services will be held at:

Sandown Health Centre, Broadway, Sandown PO36 9GA
      Wednesday 4th October, 10am – 3.00pm
      Wednesday 18th October, 10am – 3pm

West Wight Medical Practice, Brookside Health Centre, Freshwater PO40 9DT
      Thursday 5th October, 1.00pm – 4.00pm

As well as these drop-in services, residents in the Ryde area can book an appointment to have their hearing screened at:

Argyll House Surgery, West Street, Ryde PO33 2QG (01983 562955)
      Wednesday 25th October, 2.00pm – 4.00pm
      Wednesday 29th October, 2.00pm – 4.00pm

Hannah Crookes, Action on Hearing Loss’ Project Manager for the pilot scheme, said: “Following a successful launch in Argyll House in August, we’re looking forward to this service reaching more residents across the island.

“This service is open to all adults to drop in or book appointments at these screening events, you need not be a registered patient at the surgeries. Our trained volunteers will show patients how simple it is to have an initial hearing check, and any patients who show that they might be having issues with their hearing will be advised to see a nurse or GP.”

To find out more about the drop-in, please contact Hannah Crookes on or 01983 529 533.
