      Access denied

Our Access Denied campaign is supporting people with hearing loss in Wales so that they can have equipment provided to help them manage their condition and live the life they choose.

Access Denied is our campaign calling on local authorities in Wales to stop cutting funding for equipment to help people with hearing loss at a time when the number of people who are deaf or who have hearing loss is continuing to rise.

The risk to people with hearing loss in Wales

Freedom of Information requests show that social service budgets for people with hearing loss across Wales have been cut dramatically in recent years - in some areas by over 50%.

Adapted telephones, flashing doorbells and hearing loops are some of the potentially life-changing items that should be provided for deaf people by their local social services department.

But thousands of people with hearing loss across Wales are now not getting the support they need and could be at risk of serious isolation, loneliness and, as a result, mental health issues.
