We run Equipment Assessment Services in several areas, under contract to the Local Authority. Our equipment officers are experienced in assessing the equipment needs of people who are deaf or have a hearing loss.

We work alongside you to provide a comprehensive service, sorting out which environmental aids are most suitable for your needs. We can give you information about the sort of equipment you can use at home and work, as well as in the car and when you go out socially.

We also manage and install equipment, as well as training service users on how to use equipment safely and appropriately, so that they can be independent.

What happens if I have other sensory loss?

We can also assess the equipment needs of people with multiple sensory loss or disability through our projects or external partners, including the Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB)(external link, opens in new window).

Who else is involved in assessment?

Where appropriate, we can work closely with, and ask for the support of, local social services or community support teams.
