In several areas, Action on Hearing Loss runs an Equipment Assessment Service under contract to the Local Authority. Our equipment officers are experienced in assessing the equipment needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
We work alongside you to provide a comprehensive service, sorting out which environmental aids are most suitable for your needs.
Action on Hearing Loss also manages and installs equipment, as well as training service users on how to use equipment safely and appropriately, so that they can be independent.
We can give you information about the sort of equipment you can use at home and work, as well as in the car and when you go out socially.
What happens if I have other sensory loss?
We can also assess the equipment needs of people with multiple sensory loss or disability through our projects or external partners, which includes the Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) (external link, opens in new window).
Who else is involved in assessment?
Where appropriate, we can work closely with, and ask for the support of, local social services or community support teams.
