'Sound of the Centenary'

As we mark 100 years of supporting people with hearing loss, why not buy a table to join us in our celebrations, or sponsor our inaugural gala dinner and awards? The event will be held in the exquisite Marble Hall of City Hall, Cardiff. Guests will be greeted with a drinks reception, four course dinner and fine wine, all while donating to a worthwhile cause.
A unique evening of entertainment will be compered by Wynne Evans, flamboyant singing star of the Go Compare TV commercials. Wynne is one of the UK’s leading tenors, having sung as a principal with all of the major opera houses and orchestras, including Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Welsh National Opera and English National Opera. In 2009 Wynne became the face and voice in the multi million pound advertising campaign for one of the UK’s leading comparison website GoCompare.com, playing the flamboyant character Gio Compario. Wynne has gone onto make dozens of adverts for GoCompare.com both on Radio and TV.
Wynne will be joined by world-renowned performers from Welsh National Opera, and guests will enjoy a signed performance and a personal account of the effects of hearing loss from Janine Roebuck. Janine is the world’s only deaf mezzo-soprano. Despite a diagnosis of incurable, progressive nerve deafness, and told that she would “never have a career in music”, Janine continues to tour the world and perform on radio and TV. She is a regular guest on ‘Friday Night is Music Night’ on BBC Radio 2, and winner of the Champion Award in 2009. Having kept her hearing loss a closely guarded secret for many years, she has now proudly gone public, and says that responses have varied from astonishment to admiration.
