      Start to sign

Do you or your employees work with clients and customers or have colleagues whose main language is British Sign Language (BSL)?

Learning some basic British Sign Language (BSL) can help break down barriers and create a friendly and accessible environment.

Our Start to Sign course will provide you with basic BSL skills to communicate with customers, clients and colleagues who are Deaf and use BSL. This is a fantastic introduction to BSL, giving you the opportunity to learn more than 150 signs in a day.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

      • Recognise and apply basic grammatical structures in British Sign Language (BSL)
      • Use appropriate greetings
      • Communicate your job title/role in BSL
      • Introduce yourself using fingerspelling confidently
      • Be able to hold a brief conversation with a Deaf person using everyday vocabulary

Our Start to Sign course is delivered by an experienced trainer whose first or preferred language is BSL. Each session takes place over the course of one working day, usually 10:00 to 17:00, with an hour for lunch.

      Certification
