Make an extra donation and make a difference!
Every raffle ticket will be helping the work that we do to help the estimated 10 million people in the UK who are suffering from hearing loss.
You could help us fund pioneering biomedical research into treatments and cures for hearing loss. It is only through research that life-changing procedures such as cochlear implants have been possible and continuing to develop and improve these will mean that more people can benefit – like William, a little boy who able to hear for the first time thanks to a cochlear implant.
William's story
William was born deaf, like his grandfather had been. One of the benefits of being born into a deaf family was that by the time William was 18 months old, he was learning sign language.
William’s dad eventually enquired about a cochlear implant. After months of assessments and scans, came the day of the operation. This was followed a few weeks later by the switch-on.
After much work, and watching William’s language develop, the evening came three years later when he actually said ‘Daddy’ for the first time – well, nothing compares to that moment.
William, now 10, goes to mainstream school and is supported by a full-time assistant to help him get the most from lessons. I think it is fantastic that Action on Hearing Loss funds research that makes such a difference to children like our William.
Many of our supporters like to give an additional donation when ordering their raffle tickets. If you would like to do so, simply add your donation when you return your ticket stubs and entry money.
