Action on Hearing Loss Cymru was established in 1997, and is the newest of the regional organisations. We support around 480,000 people who are deaf or have a hearing loss in Wales, their families and colleagues.
We’re committed to helping people with hearing loss in Wales tackle feelings of isolation or discrimination and support them to feel empowered and live independently.
Over the past few years, we’ve worked closely with the Welsh Assembly Government to achieve some important successes, including the introduction of a national lipreading strategy for Wales to improve awareness and access.
We’ve joined forces with RNIB Cymru to improve accessibility to the NHS for people with sensory loss and Plaid Cymru to put together a deaf strategy.
