The day started off very cold but our volunteers wrapped up warm and embraced the Christmas spirit with Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and Christmas jumpers.
46 volunteers completed two hour slots throughout the day stationed outside the Belfast Christmas Market, Victoria Square Shopping Centre and other key city landmarks.
All volunteers were glad of hot drinks kindly provided by Starbucks and mince pies on arriving back at the office!
The day finished on a high with Queen’s Island Victoria Male Choir entertaining evening shoppers in Victoria Square by performing carols in aid of Action on Hearing Loss.
Sharon Craig, Country Fundraising Manager at Action on Hearing Loss Northern Ireland, said: “Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help at the Big Belfast Christmas Collection and to the general public who donated on the day. Despite a freezing day, we managed to raise over £1,200. In Northern Ireland we spend around £1 million providing much needed services to support people who are deaf, have hearing loss and/or tinnitus. We rely on public donations and are very grateful for the support.”
