Scarlette DouglasScarlette is one of the presenters for Channel 4’s ‘A Place in the Sun’, as well as a reporter for BBC's The One Show and Points of View.
Scarlette has been a fervent supporter of Action on Hearing Loss for a few years having featured in the charity’s Deaf Awareness Week social media campaign in 2018, been a guest speaker at our Christmas Carol Concert two years running, and climbed an exhausting 1,000 steps at London’s Broadgate Tower.
A performer at heart, Scarlette has also appeared in a vast array of musicals all over the world, her final one being the X Factor West End Musical 'I Can't Sing' produced by SYCO. She took part in Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway TV show, as well as their UK arena tour and has featured on a variety of other TV programmes such as Stars in your Eyes, A League of their Own, The Paul O'Grady Show, Children in Need, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, Dancing on Ice and many others.
Samantha BainesSamantha Baines is an award-winning comedian, actor, hearing aid wearer and Action on Hearing Loss Ambassador.
Samantha compared the charity’s first ever Laughing to Deaf comedy fundraiser in 2018, has acted as a spokesperson in the national media, featured in multiple social media campaigns, and this year will be returning to compare Laughing to Deaf at London’s Comedy Store, headlined by John Bishop.
Samantha's acting credits include The Crown, Silent Witness, Call the Midwife and several BBC Comedies and she currently stars in Magic Mike Live in London's West End. Samantha is also a broadcaster and works regularly with BBC Radio stations as well as writing children's books! This busy woman doesn't let her hearing loss or tinnitus get in her way and is passionate about raising awareness of the signs of hearing loss and tinnitus as well as the mental health conditions that may stem from them.
Mathew Gilbert is an English rugby union footballer currently playing at Flanker and number eight for Hartpury College R.F.C. in the RFU Championship, having previously played for Bath Rugby and Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership.
Mathew has been a long-serving ambassador for the charity, supporting fundraising events across the UK and acting as a guest speaker at the charity’s annual Christmas Carol Concert.
Eshaan Akbar is a fast-rising comedy talent. He has appeared on ‘Frankie Boyle's New World Order’, BBC Two's ‘Big Asian Stand Up’, as well as on BBC Radio 4's ‘The Now Show’, BBC Asian Network, and is a regular on TalkSPORT and LoveSport.
Eshaan, who is a proud hearing aid wearer, has been a staunch supporter of Action on Hearing Loss having performed in our Laughing to Deaf comedy fundraiser for two consecutive years, featured in our #DontBeADonut campaign for Deaf Awareness Week in 2019, and acted as a spokesperson in the national media, including ITV.
A regular face on the comedy circuit, Eshaan has supported Micky Flanagan, Dane Baptiste, Hal Cruttenden, Rory Bremner, and Jan Ravens. He is fresh from performing his sellout show ‘Prophet Like It's Hot’ at the Soho Theatre (***** Fresh Fringe, **** Voice Mag), following a successful run at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
